HIP HIP HOORAY!!! It’s release day for one of my favorites – MJ Summers! MJ enthralled me with the first book in this series – Break In Two, after which I also fell in love with Breaking Love.  Now, we meet into two other lovely characters in Breaking Clear…

Breaking Clear coverClever. Steamy. Inspiring.

You fell in love with Harper Young as Megan Sullivan’s fiercely loyal, feisty best-friend in Breaking Love. As a talented art director at Style Magazine in Manhattan, she lives a life of glamour, managing to put a safe distance between herself and her painful past. One spring day, she answers a call that will change everything. Her father has had an accident and needs Harper to go home to Boulder, Colorado to care for him. Given an ultimatum by her boss, she chooses family, leaving her career behind. She drives across the country to find that the only man to make her heart ache with desire will be her new neighbour. Now, living in a city with a past that haunts her, she finds herself falling for Evan Donovan, a hot-as-hell contractor and her big brother’s best friend.

When Evan Donovan isn’t on a construction site, he is usually hanging from a cliff somewhere. He’s been dealt a rough hand when it comes to love and now believes in keeping things simple. His wife left him just as the recession forced him to shut down his home building company. Now after three years of strict perseverance, he is finally back on top again and he intends to stay there. But when Harper Young drops into his life, things are going to suddenly get complicated. He finds himself wondering why he never noticed her when they were teenagers. He resolves to stay away from his best friend’s little sister but the pull he feels to her is just too strong. Harper and Evan quickly find themselves in each other’s arms, trying to fool themselves into believing that they won’t fall in love.

Will Harper’s glamorous life come calling before she can overcome the humiliation of being in a town where everyone knows about her past? Will Evan overcome his inability to trust? The clock is ticking as these two perfect-for-each other people decide if they can make that final leap.

Saving Our Hearts ~ a review

Blog Tour Banner

His little chest rises and falls with each breath he struggles to take. The wires and tubes attached to his body are things I see every day, but somehow, the sight of them attached to this little body… my son’s body… well, it takes on a completely new meaning and tears at my heart in a way I never imagined.

Laying in the incubator, even with all the medical supplies on him, he’s perfect. The mass of dark hair just like mine was surprising; I honestly thought our baby would have auburn hair like his gorgeous mother… my Gracie. His button nose and precious lips ensure he’s without doubt the cutest baby in existence. Although, that may just be the biased opinion of a father who is completely smitten and undeniably head over heels in love with his first born child. I wish Gracie were here to see how beautiful he is.

With a heavy sigh, I take my seat beside his crib and continue my vigil over my son. Everyone’s growing frustrated with me because they want to know his name. They’re sick of calling the baby him, or baby Tierney, and I understand their annoyance. I really do, but there’s no way I’m going to make that decision on my own. I guess three days without a name isn’t normal, but then the way he arrived into the world wasn’t normal. It certainly wasn’t the way Gracie and I envisioned things would go.

Saving our Hearts is the MUCH anticipated follow up to Rhythm of My Heart and I was SO pleased with how the series continued.  The book picks up where the first left off (these are NOT standalone books!  If you’ve not read “Rhythm” stop reading this review right now!!  Then go download it and read it!) and had me tearing through the first chapter to find the fate of Gracie and the baby.  Don’t worry, you’ll get answers very quickly…thankfully!!

Saving our Hearts is not just another romance novel.  It incorporates many story lines to continue the journey of Cole and Gracie including those who are trying desperately to thwart their relationship and those doing everything in their power to support them.  The couple must overcome many obstacles throughout their story including a sadistic ex-boyfriend, a hostage situation, and a meddling bitch of an ex-fiancee.  Cole and Gracie manage it all through love, the support of their family and friends and lots and lots of sex!!

My favorite parts of both books is the unfailing love Cole has for Gracie, and visa versa.  Not only is Cole amazingly hot, he’s amazingly romantic and cares for Gracie in a way that every woman wants to be cared for.  It’s also wonderful to read their story from a few characters’ perspectives.  While other authors struggle to make this type of reading easy to follow, Reed does it perfectly, and by doing so she builds a wonderful world of characters that will make you laugh, cry and yes…blush!!

Not only does each chapter bring about a challenge for the couple, it also tells the story of other relationships brewing within the group.  I love that Reed is introducing us to new couples as she plans out the next books in her series including:

Book 3 – A Home for my Heart – Ashley and Sam

Book 4 – Fighting for my Heart – Charlie

Book 5 – Surrendering my Heart – April

Reed also plans on possibly publishing two other books…let’s all cross our fingers for this to happen!!

The Truest of Words by Georgina Guthrie

Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken…
(Sonnet 116)

~Chapter 33 “The Truest of Words”

In the lovely conclusion to the romance that has captured hearts everywhere, we follow Daniel and Aubrey on what may be their most difficult journey to date – real life.

The Truest of Words picks up where Better Deeds than Words left us – the semester is finally over and as Aubrey’s graduation nears, the love sick couple finds themselves navigating the stress of bringing their relationship out into the open and the repercussions it could have for not only them, but those associated with them.

In this book we get to see much more of Daniel and the wonderfully handsome, romantic, OCD perfectionist he is. Daniel begins to focus on himself hoping that with Aubrey’s help he can become more of the man he used to be before accusations of misconduct were flung his way during his time at Oxford. Aubrey, on the other hand, is busy juggling the demands of her new boss, examining what life will be like after university and contemplating her future with Daniel and his ever growing (and dare I say meddling?) family.

The overriding theme in this book is certainly “love above all”. It seems that no matter what is tossed their way Aubrey and Daniel have a way of using their love and mutual respect for one another as a safe place they can always come back to. Demons certainly rise up in their lives and the way they tackle them together brings their characters full circle in many ways.

While this book has a slightly different “tone” than the other two, it’s still an enjoyable read and you’ll certainly want to see how the story of true love wraps up.

Breaking Up With Barrett ~ a review

Breaking up with Barrett picIn her latest literary gem, Katy Regnery introduces us to Barrett English, one of five English brothers who we’ll meet over the course of the next few months. Barrett is exactly what you’re thinking he is – tall, dark, handsome, rich, pompous and secretly incredibly sweet and romantic (think Christian Grey without all the darkness). For essentially his entire life he’s only had eyes for Emily Edwards- the gardener’s daughter, the beautiful blonde he grew up with, the woman who pretends to be his fiancée.

Yes, you read that correctly. Emily is Barrett’s pretend fiancée. Not a bad gig really – nice dinners, good wine, fancy dresses AND she gets to gaze at Mr. English a handful of nights each month…all while getting paid to do so! (Does that job exist? I’m totally interested).

I’m sure you can guess where ‘pretend engaged’ will probably get the couple…but are the feelings they have toward one another real, or just an effect of their charade? Furthermore, can two people from vastly different backgrounds actually come together? Can Emily handle Barrett’s controlling boardroom ways? Is Barrett ready to let all other women go?

The biggest surprise in this short read was the emotion I felt. There was laughter, butterflies, anger and (much to Katy’s surprise) even tears! Katy does an amazing job of telling several years’ worth of a story in a short, concise way making this the perfect beach read (is that a sunburn or are you blushing over Barrett?!)

My only complaint – I want 200 more pages!!! This is such a great story that I didn’t want it to end. So, I’ll try a public begging (as a private one did not work) PLEASE, KATY, WRITE MORE!!!

Rhythm of my Heart by Velvet Reed

Front Cover-1“Oh my God! No way!”

Those where the words that flew out of my mouth upon finishing the last page in this book as I was frantically trying to get my kindle to flip another page…but to no avail. I’ll have to wait until September (WHAT?!?!) to hear the ‘rest of the story’. And what an amazing story this was…

Grace Rivers and Dr. Cole Tierney find themselves eye to eye in the ER following a mishap with Grace’s niece, Ruby. When the two shake hands and an electric spark passes between them, they find themselves wanting to know more about each other…

“Grace stands, gazing after her father and I can see the love and adoration gleaming in her eyes. This woman is breathtaking. My heart gives a quick squeeze and I know…in this instant, I know somehow, no matter what, I am going to make Grace mine.”

And make her mine he did…more than a few times…and it’s HOT!!! Cole is sexy as hell and Reed does an amazing job of developing his character throughout the book. In fact, Reed does an outstanding job developing the entire group of characters throughout this book. Each chapter is written in the perspective of a major character (think Jodi Picoult) which gives the book amazing depth and preps us for what is sure to be an amazing series of books (can there be like, 10 more please?!)

Grace is quick to defend her friends and family at any cost (take THAT Miranda!) and stops at nothing to ensure those she loves are well taken care of. She falls hard and fast for Cole (and so will you upon reading this book) and soon finds herself completely taken by him…

“Cole in jeans is sexy as hell; Cole in scrubs is mouthwatering. But, for the love of God…Cole in a tuxedo is a heart attack waiting to happen.”

But a good love story isn’t without ups and downs, twists and turns, cheerleaders and nay-sayers. This book has them ALL – and you will love and hate every last one of them. I adore the POV shifts throughout this book, reading the story from multiple views is one of my favorite things and Reed takes it beyond just the two main characters.

The greatest thing about this book is how it kept me guessing and engaged throughout. At the half way point I thought “wow, this is a cute love story, but how is there enough material for more?” Uh, there was.  A LOT more. This book is like a roller coaster ride, starts off nice, moves fast, takes sharp turns, whips your head back and finally plummets you to a dead stop. And just like a roller coaster – you WILL want MORE!

Star Struck by Laurelin Paige ~ a review

“Heather Wainwright, Hollywood A-list actress, had been flirting shamelessly with a carpenter.”

StarStruckCoverI first fell in love with Laurelin Paige and her super sexy style of writing when I completely immersed myself in the Fixed trilogy a few months back. (If you haven’t read “Fixed”…please put it on your MUST DO list.)

Star Struck is the wonderfully steamy story of actress, Heather Wainwright and Production Designer, Seth Rafferty (he’s H.O.T ladies…H.O.T). When Heather and Seth meet during a fundraiser neither one has any idea how similar their pasts have been. When they first lay eyes on one another, Heather assumes Seth is nothing more than a worker on set (thus completely below her dating standards) and Seth assumes Heather is nothing more than a snotty, stuck up actress…what’s that they say about first impressions??

The two find themselves drawn to one another and throughout a series of events find they are better suited for each other than they originally assumed. But, will secrets they are both keeping tear them apart? Will Heather give in to her deepest desires? Will Seth accept Heather for who she really is?

Star Struck is a wonderfully paced novel that kept my attention throughout (mostly thanks to the really amazing sex scenes!) Paige does a fantastic job of framing her characters in a way that allows us to learn about them throughout the entire novel, not just in the first few chapters. Similar to the Fixed series, the main characters in this book are both flawed, but in a way that makes them completely loveable and perfect for one another.

What I love most about Paige’s writing is her ability to steam up my Kindle screen and follow it up with something so sweet it makes my teeth hurt! I remember the way Hudson used to circle Alayna’s nose with his in the Fixed Trilogy – and that small gesture used to give me butterflies every single time. The sweet gesture continues in Star Struck and it has exactly the same effect. It’s a perfectly planned and written gesture that has me swooning every single time.

One of my other favorite things about Star Struck is the shift in POV between Heather and Seth. Nothing gets me hooked like hearing from the man of the story now and then and Paige does it with ease. For instance…

“He was vaguely aware of an alarm going off in the back of his head, his conscience reminding him something about getting in and getting out.

Oh, he’d get in and get out all right. In and out all night long if she’d let him”

Seth has really great one-liners throughout this book that truly made me laugh out loud more than once. He is the definition of the perfect guy – hot, sweet, funny, hard-working, protective and a little bit of a Dom in the bedroom. {Smiles widely}

All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and recommend it to anyone who enjoys reading about amazing sexual tension and hot sex scenes with romance and humor sprinkled throughout.

Book Blast ~ A Chance For More

Today I’ll be featuring some very sexy scenes from Zanne Sweeney’s book “A Chance For More” ~ be sure to stop by more than once today so you don’t miss any of the deliciousness!

A Chance for MoreThe wonderful party was drawing to a close. Clay got the truck and they piled in tired from the days events. When they arrived back to Shelby’s Mom’s ranch, Clay’s dad was there. The four of them sat and talked to them for a bit and then Sara and Danny headed off to bed. Clay asked Shelby to walk him out. They stood by Clay’s truck facing each other

“Shelby, I had a great time today.”

“I had fun too.”

“I’d like to see you again?”

“Clay, we talked about this. I like being with you. I have fun with you. I’m not going to be a notch in your cowboy belt.”

“Wow, you don’t think very highly of me do you.” Clay spat out more forcefully than he meant to.

Shelby put her hand on his arm and gave it a squeeze.

“Clay, it’s because I do think so much of you.” Shelby looked into his gorgeous green eyes and fingered a forlorn lock of his dark hair off his forehead.

“Yea, right.”

“Listen please understand, I had a really good time today. It was a good time because I was with you. You made it fun. You made it special.”

“So what’s the problem, Shel’s?”

“Clay, I saw how every girl looked at you. Don’t think I didn’t notice how they would touch you, brush against you. You can pick and choose from any chickie around. I’d like to hang out with you more while I’m here. I just know if we became more than friends…” Shelby looked right into Clays green eyes. “Clay, you would end up breaking my heart, and I’ve been there done that.”

“Shelby, come on. I would never hurt you. Maybe you would break my heart. We had a great day. I didn’t want to be with anyone but you. I tried to show you that today. I know sometimes the girls flirt, but I thought I did a good job keeping them at a distance?”

“Clay, that’s just it. I don’t want to cramp your style, so to speak.”

“That’s just crap Shelby.”

“Crap or not, we are friends and I hope we can remain friends. I want to visit my Mom and not feel uncomfortable when the neighbors visit.” Shelby nudged Clay with her elbow.

Clay looked down at Shelby. She was so much smaller than him. He had felt protective of her all night. Fact was that she could totally take care of herself though. She proved that when she kneed Lars, one of the biggest guy in the county, in his nuts. His friends had asked if she was with him, like as a girlfriend, and he had told them, yes she was with him. She’d probably kill him if she knew that, but there was no way he was giving his friends a green light when it came to her. He had told her as much. She made him laugh, she was smart, she was sweet, and she was great looking. He didn’t think she had any idea how beautiful she was; blond hair, a fan fucking-tastic curvaceous body, and her eyes, geez Caribbean ocean blue. Clay noticed they reflected her every mood. When she was being competitive they sparked and darkened. When she was laughing they lightened and brightened. God, he wondered what they’d look like when she was coming. Clay adjusted his stance as his cock began to demand more room in his jeans.

Clay took off his cowboy hat and ran one hand through his black hair. “I want to see you while your here, so I’ll try to be ‘just a friend’, but I’m telling you Shel’s, chemistry is chemistry.” Shelby cocked her head to the side. “That means darling, you can’t always control what comes natural.”

Clay dipped his head and pressed a warm, sweet kiss on Shelby’s mouth that she had been totally unprepared for. Before she could protest, he had pulled back. He then swiped her stunned plush lips with his thumb, got in his truck and took off.

Shelby watched him leave. His kiss had been brief but she had felt it clear to her toes. Shit, she thought, I’m in deep shit! She then laughed because she remembered his mischievous twinkle in his eyes as he ended the kiss.

Okay round one to Clay.

HOT!!!!!  I love me a good cowboy, and it sounds like Clay is going to be real good…if ya know what I mean!
