EXCERPT (Uncut Edition):

“Jess, if it’s one thing I do know it’s that you aren’t it’s a liar. I believe you.”

Jess relaxed seemingly relieved.

“Okay now for you.”

“Bud talked you into going out tonight?”

“Yea, I was his wing man.” She grinned lamely. “It was the first time I’ve gone out, you know unattached, since I got here over a year ago.” Jess smiled sadly at her then blew out a breath.

“How much do you like Cole?”

“What? Hey!”

“Answer me.”

“You’re doing that pushy Neanderthal thing again.”

Jess’ voice got quiet. “I’ve known Cole almost my whole life. He’s one of the best guys I know. The guy has everything going for him, looks, personality, and more money that you can shake a stick at, plus he’s got a great spread just outside of town. If you like him I’m going to bow out now, even though it’ll kill me. I can’t compete with him, never have and never will.”

Kit was blown away by what he said. Jess truly believed someone was better than him. Her heart tore apart for her handsome man looking so serious and troubled. Quickly wiping the crumbs of her pop tart off her skirt Kit took his hand in hers. She looked into Jess’ eyes and saw how uncertain he was as to how she might answer his question.

“Jess I can’t believe you just said that.” Jess didn’t answer her and she knew the ball was in her court. “Listen to me mister.”

She took Jess’ face in hers two hands bracketing his cheeks, her fingers spread, and her thumbs on his cheeks. She made sure he was looking into her eyes when she spoke.

“Cole may have all those things but he’s still not you and for the record, I knew that he’d never even come close to replacing how I feel about you within the first five minutes we were together. He is a great guy, but Jess he could never measure up to you.”

Jess looked at her and she saw the shock register across his face, as he understood what she’d just admitted. He couldn’t talk. He tenderly pulled Kit to his chest and gently cupped the back of her head with both hands as he leaned towards her. “That’s the nicest thing anyone’s ever said to me Kit.”

“Not too heavy for you?” Kit asked him seriously

“Uh-uh.” He shook his head gently. “Baby I’m going to kiss you now, okay?”

Kit’s eyes welled up and she nodded. Jess found her lips with his and their worlds collided unleashing days’ worth of pent up emotion.

Scorching sexual heat leapt off their bodies as they both struggled to get closer. Jess lifted his mouth from hers and choked out, “Clothes.” They went for each other’s shirt stripping them off and tossing them on the floor. When they reached for each other’s pants, in Jess’ case her skirt, they conked their foreheads against each other. “Ow.” Kit said as she rubbed her brow. Jess straightened and leaned in to kiss her head. “Are you okay? How is your head anyway?”

“I’m fine. Clothes remember?” She whispered in a soft syrupy voice.

“Clothes.” He repeated.

They stood naked and facing each other in less than a minute. Kit was surprised at her brazen behavior, but geez the man had her so hot it was a relief to get out of the hindering garments. Jess took one look at Kit from toes to eyes and groaned as he smashed his body to hers. Kit crawled up his frame and he helped her hitch her legs around his waist. Jess walked them to her kitchen table dropping her butt on the wooden top.

“In you, now.” He panted.

Tricky Taxol – Rounds 1 & 2

Now, where were we? Ah, yes, Taxol.

When we last spoke I’d just conquered my last round of the Red Devil and was anxious to move on to the “less challenging”, single drug, Taxol. Well. Taxol has been anything but “less challenging” in the two rounds I’ve completed.

Dani Jeff and ITaxol round 1 of 12 was taken on in cooperation with my dear friend, Dani, and Super Hubby. Taxol was described as a little more “reactive” initially so in addition to the chemo I’m given an IV dose of Benedryl and Prevacid. Not knowing how immediate the effect of Benedryl in an IV was going to be, I was rather surprised when it hit me like a ton of bricks and just about put me to sleep. It was quite the ride after not drinking since July!!  (Note to self and others – eat right before you start, it won’t be such a shock to your system!)

The nice thing about Taxol is the actual Chemo only takes about an hour to drip, which is less time than the two drug therapy. Including labs and the doctor visit, we’re usually at the clinic for just under four hours. Yes, still quite a long time, but better than it was.Homer and I

The day after Taxol I felt OK, the second day after Round 1 brought on some bone pain and joint aches – all normal with this chemo. With some Tylenol and rest they were kept under control. I felt so fine, in fact, that our four-day getaway to Atlanta was full of walking, eating and yes, even a couple of cocktails for me!  The Braves organization has supported me from my very first chemo treatment, so getting a photo with Homer was so totally awesome!!

Round 2, however, was a different story…

Mom and ITaxol Round 2 was conquered in cooperation with none other than the great and powerful Connie A. Petersen.  Mom arrived Thursday night and stayed through Sunday morning. She was full of fun too – we were laughing so hard waiting for chemo on Friday I think people thought we’d lost our minds.

Friday and Saturday went off without a hitch, Sunday and Monday however were different stories. When I woke up Sunday I had my normal second day aches and pains but they got worse as they day went on. By Sunday night I was running a fever of over 101, and had chills, aches, pains…not good. (That’s what happens when Mommy leaves…ha ha!!) I called in and spoke with one of the Oncologists who advised me to take Tylenol and check back in the morning. Super Hubby did NOT like this idea one bit (he wanted to take me straight to the ER) and I don’t think he slept much Sunday night.

Monday brought a fever of 100 but still lots of aches and pains along with chills throughout the day. I was able to talk to more of my care team at the clinic and they agreed I’d likely picked up a virus along the way. I was given the prescription of rest, fluids, Tylenol and to check back if my fever went up again, or in 24 hours (whichever came first). Thankfully, Super Hubby was able to work from home to take care of me again on Monday – he’s a very good nurse!!!

THANKFULLY, Tuesday morning brought relief! While still pretty tired, my fever had broken and the aches and pains subsided for the most part. That afternoon I even walked a mile (very slowly) in the gorgeous warm weather. I have noticed a decrease in appetite but I’m hoping that will pick up as we move forward.

As I sit here typing this Wednesday morning, I feel 100% better. I’m hoping and praying it was only a virus and I won’t be down and out for two days every week over the next 10 Taxol treatments.

Thanks to everyone who has ordered Team Hagy shirts – the order is going in this week!

There’s still time to sign up for the walk on October 18, as Super Hubby said “There’s a lot of people walking with us, like an army full” – and it’s SO AWESOME!!! To sign up for the walk, or donate to the cause, visit (We’re over 80% to our goal!!!!)

Charity’s Passion ~ a review

Charity Powers and Justin Collins face down their final challenges and elicit desires in the last of their passionate series. Almost a year has passed since their romance began and they’ve overcome obstacles together that they could never have endured alone—and they’ll need each other now more than ever!

Their powerful love is ready and eager for the next evolution of their relationship, but Brian Marker has returned for his revenge. The gifted assassin in Justin can sense the ruthless killer all around them, hunting them, closing in, and it’s time to begin the plans he’s been protecting from everyone, even Charity. Senator Lewis moves closer to the presidential candidacy with Panther’s help, and a power struggle larger than anyone was prepared for unfolds around them. Panther Inc. must pass hands to Garrett so Justin and Charity can run across the world to drive their stalker out into the open to face them.

Charity and Justin refuse to let anything come between them and their lust for each other. They accept their fate with all the erotic heat they both have craved from the beginning, a fire so intense that it ignites flames in those around them.

But there are always dark and dangerous corners and those wicked souls hiding within them. With the light at the end of the tunnel before them so bright that they can see the rest of their happy lives together, will Charity and Justin make it to God’s alter in bliss—or tragedy?

Charitys passion tour

Justin’s hands touch mine and he slowly guides my arms over my head, making me feel angelic and pretty. He leaves my hands there and gently slides his fingertips down my arms to my shoulders where he’s still kissing me. His fingers turn into my soft underarms and down my sides, tickling my ribs and waist.

His mouth opens and I feel his hot tongue tease its way to my earlobe. His teeth close around it for the slightest nibble, just barely a promise of what it’s about to happen.

“I missed you, Warrior, and I’ve had all night to think about what I want to do to you.”

This is the third book in the Charity series (Charity’s Warrior & Charity’s Secret are the first two), and I do believe it’s my favorite. Three overarching themes make it so – love, sex and intrigue. The lively love story of Charity and Justin continues as Justin works to get out of the business that seems to keep both their lives at risk, and the lives of those around them.

Justin’s work as a “fixer” (think of Ray Donovan or Olivia Pope) continues but becomes infinitely more dangerous when he becomes the focus of a man as dangerous as himself. Justin will stop at nothing to protect Charity and his close circle of friends which proves to be more of a risk than intended.

Overall, the storyline through all three books is clear and it is best to settle in and read the books in order (and relatively quickly) to keep the characters and story moving in an understandable direction. There are several “outlier” characters who add major depth to the story – two of which are getting their own book soon!

Including a trip around the world, the death of a main character, more amazing sex scenes and some ultra-romantic moves by Justin, Charity’s Passion is not to be missed. This is a true page turner, and a perfect way to warm up your cool fall evenings and put some spice into your life.

Burning Desire ~ a review

My mind struggles to wrap around the severity of the injuries passing by my frozen, shell-shocked frame. Flashes of my time in Afghanistan soar in front of my eyes. “Please God, save her,” I whisper. “I need her. Our life together has only just begun don’t take her from me now, not yet. It’s not her time. It’s our time to be together, damn it! We deserve a chance.”

“Lisa,” I bellow. “Come to me, baby.” Under my breath I mutter, “Don’t be a hero, Lisa. Save yourself. Save me, from a meaningless life, a life without you. There’s no reason for me to exist without you.” Tears cloud my vision of the metallic war zone, prior to tumbling down my cheeks.

This is a FAST read full of love, sex and intrigue. Little did I know when I started this book, it was actually the second book in the trilogy – WHOOPS!! However, knowing that, I can tell you this book can be read as a standalone, but I’m going to bet it’s better after reading book one (right now on sale for $.99!!!)

This is the fascinating story of International Air Captain (Yummy) Lance Miller and his (kind of, sort of) fiancée Lisa Price. The book opens with a spectacular plane crash and Lisa doing her stewardess duty of ensuring every passenger is off the plane before it completely disintegrates. Lance stands by helplessly watching the situation intensify, praying God saves the love of his life. Lisa survives, but when she wakes in a hospital a few days later, the perfect life Lance dreamed of continues to shatters right before his eyes…

My favorite thing about this book is the back and forth point of view, giving the reader a well-rounded view of the story and a better understanding of the struggle they both endure to get back to normal. Lance is perfectly wonderful as he attempts to help Lisa recover and Lisa is fabulously frustrating as she fights to get herself back.

Though I didn’t read book one, I was still able to grasp most of the back story about Lance and Lisa. I can tell it was a great beginning to a love story and I look forward to reading about the start of their relationship.

This hot little number is perfect for a day at the beach or a plane ride, and the cliffhanger ending will leave you begging for the next installment.

Love Grows in Alaska

Release Launch Banner

It’s getting cold as Alaska here…so let’s warm up with a new release!!

Being the oldest Washington Triplet hasn’t been easy for Marisa Washington. Labeled the “good one” at a young age embedded the burden she strived to build true. She graduated at the top of her class, never caused her parents trouble, and even settled down in their hometown of Chicago with her college boyfriend.

Her life was “perfect”, at least in the eyes of others. But when her mom unexpectedly dies, Marisa’s eyes open for the first time. She leaves her boyfriend of four years and takes a job in Alaska to gain the freedom and individuality she’s craved. After all, what would she gain by sticking around Chicago? She discovered her perfect family isn’t so perfect, and everyone she cares for left her.

Starting a new life in Anchorage, Alaska, she’s unable to escape her family’s hold when her dad’s wedding announcement comes a mere six months after her mother’s death. Attempts to contact her sisters, in order to face this together, are unsuccessful, leaving her feeling even more alone.

Her family issues have to be pushed aside when her employer sends her and three others to a team building retreat in King’s Gate. It’s the last thing Marisa wants to do, until everywhere she turns, she finds…Zach Greer.

A hand wraps gently around my wrist, stopping me from moving forward. “Marisa Washington?” I freeze at the deep voice I only heard hours ago. Forcing my eyes to look up, my stomach flips when they find the gorgeous Zach Greer standing in front of me.

“Zach,” I murmur and then I try to compose myself as much as possible. As my body thaws slightly from the shock of seeing him again, I feel his fingertips rubbing back and forth along the inside of my wrist. It’s calming and comforting instead of creepy like it should be. I’ve met him twice and his touch doesn’t bother me a bit, whereas if Pete’s hand brushes along mine, I swipe it back like he’s a mosquito.

He smiles down to me and I notice there’s no sign of surprise in those blue hues. “Why am I the only one surprised here?” I ask him, tilting my head to the side and a billowing easy going laugh erupts from his mouth.

“You caught me. I figured I may run into you,” he admits and my eyes must give away my hesitation that it hasn’t been a coincidence running into one another again. “I mean King’s Gate isn’t huge and I fly a lot of the tour customers to their destinations. Not that I intentionally followed you here … I didn’t know you’d stay here. I mean I kind—” he adorably rambles. I could become accustomed to a hot guy being nervous around me.

“It’s okay. I understand,” I interrupt and nervously twist a strand of my long dark hair around my finger.

“So, you’re staying here?” he asks, shoving his hands in his pockets and casually leaning against the wall.

“I’m not so sure I should tell you,” I kid, and that mouth opens up in the most amazing smile with perfectly white teeth. Tell me this man has a fault.

“I have ways of finding out.” He winks and my stomach flutters at the thought that he may be attracted to me like I am to him.

“Hmm … maybe I should make you use those ways.” I boldly take a step to him. Not sure why this foreign cat and prey act is coming out of me. I’ve never been one to make a move on a guy, much less someone as out of my league as Zach Greer. Pushing off the wall, he takes a step and my pulse quickens.

“Be careful, before you know it, I’ll be at your hotel door.” He takes a hold of my finger and releases it from my hair. We are chest-to-chest and my usual guarded self vanished at some point during this impromptu meeting, because the only thing I want are his lips on mine. To feel the warmth of his tongue with mine, his hands on my hips, drawing me closer.

“Maybe I wouldn’t mind,” I softly say and one side of his lips turn up as our eyes fixate on one another’s. This current forms from him to me and I boldly wait for him to push this further. My heart races, wanting him to entice me to do something I’ve never done, to push me to give in to my impulses that I always deny.

“Today would be nice, Marisa,” Wes sneers as he passes us going to the bathroom.

“Boyfriend?” Zach asks, not stepping back from me.

“Co-worker,” I answer, admiring those blue eyes that haunt me.

“Go to dinner, Marisa. I’ll be at the bar when you finish so I can buy you a drink.” Then he turns on his heel and leaves me standing there with my heart racing and a pool of moisture between my legs. What the hell?
